King's Lynn
King’s Lynn is by far the largest town in West Norfolk and has a lot to offer for tourists. The town has a long history and much of this shows in its current architecture and its abundance of museums. The town’s history revolves around the old port, and the Customs House which controlled the import of goods is an iconic example of this, and is now home to tourist information. A modern new port was built closer to the sea to the north of the town and its large white tower can be seen from miles away.
The town has two market squares, the Tuesday and Saturday squares, which still have markets there on the stated days and are used as car parking at other times. These squares and the buildings around them give the town a great deal of character, especially the Saturday Square which although small is home to the guildhall and St Margaret’s Church.
The west of the town, which borders the river, doesn’t have much green space, but this is made up for by the views across the river and the large park in the east of the town.
