Theatre Royal

The theatre has been on this site since 1758, unfortunately it has been rebuilt twice in that time, lastly in the 1930s, so rather than the original stone building the current theatre is rather retro in appearance. This said, things get better inside as much work has been done to meet the technical demands of modern theatre and there is reasonable wheelchair access. The theatre often performs popular shows which attract big crowds as well as music, comedy and shows and events aimed at schools.
