RSPB Strumpshaw Fen reserve is on the broads by the River Yare which flows from Norwich into the broads. It’s also by the Yare Valley Cycle Route. The reserve has a large amount of dense reed-bed interspersed with areas of open water making it very attractive for many types of birds, and there’s also a large meadow, some woodland and the river. Combine this with a number of well kept hides and paths which are generally accessible by wheelchair and it’s easy to see why this reserve is very popular. Birds recently sighted when we visited included marsh harriers, sparrow hawks and bitterns.
