Introduction

Welcome to the home of things to do in Norfolk. Our aim is to make finding out about Norfolk easy by using maps and pictures as much as possible.

Norfolk Background
Norfolk is a very flat, low lying county which has been a popular tourist retreat for over 100 years when it became popular with tourists coming from London, and later from the midlands.

Beaches
The initial attraction was the beaches and the walking around the coast, and today the beaches are still some of the worlds cleanest and sandiest, and many coastal tracks are now good enough for cycling.

Broads
The broads, which are now one of England’s most important nature reserves and home to more species of wild bird than any other English area, are actually man made – they resulted from the digging of peat for use as a fuel. The broads being a mixture of lakes and canals are important both for navigation by boat and as a means of drainage, but are more famous as being a very popular location for water sports and wildlife spotting.

Urban Norfolk
The historic county town of Norwich has been an important English town for over 1000 years and at one point was one of England most important centres of trade. On the east coast Great Yarmouth is Norfolk’s most obvious tourist town, with a wealth of modern attractions and historic sites it really does cater for all tastes.
